We're back in Arizona

We left Spokane on the 6th and headed south through Idaho, Montana, Utah and into Las Vegas Nevada on the 10th.  Our trip south was fairly uneventful until we hit southern Utah.  We stopped for a rest and a friendly man pointed out that our left front tire was not looking good, and he was right.  We made it to St. George Utah for the night (another Wal-Mart parking lot), and the next day, our anniversary, we found a place to get the tire replaced.  But, as most of you know you cannot replace just one...... you have to replace both of them.  So..... two tires later....size  275/80R 22.5 (you look up the price), we we on our way to Las Vegas.  Have to give a shout out to the  company  where we got the tires.  We bought from a nation wide company calld TDS.  Their customer service was outstanding, they had us in and back on the road in about an hour.

On our way into Las Vegas, we drove through a Nevada state park called Valley of Fire.  It always amazes me when you can drive through an area like this, with spectacular rock formations and then drive out...  how is it that just this area, has this kind of geologic  phenomenon.

Arrived in LV on the 10th and spent 3 days here. There is so much new in town since I was there 5 years ago.  We walked the strip looking at everything new as well as old and spent time in downtown Las Vegas watching the Freemont Street show.  While in LV, we saw two shows, Defending the Caveman and Cirque Du Soleil 'O'.  If you have never seen Defending the Caveman, it is a must see.  I saw it a couple of years ago in Portland, and  wish I had seen it many years ago....  it answered so many questions about men!  I thought Deane was going to fall off his chair laughing and identifing with just about     everything the comedian said.

We arrived in Mesa on the 13th, and 107 degrees.  It is not easy to come from the Northwest 7 days earlier with temperatures in the 50's to this kind of heat. We did go through winter on our way, when we hit Idaho Falls and there was snow on the ground.    But we will not complain...it is not raining, overcast or cold.  The sun is shining and we are seeing some beautiful sunsets.
