Alex and Austin

We have been in Spokane now for 6 days and have had nothing but fun.  This post is going to be all about grand kids, of course!

We arrived on Friday to see Joe, Deanna, Alex and of course Austin who was all of 8 days old.

Austin - 8 days old
Who remembers new babies being so small?  He is just a peanut, and a good one.  All the time we have spent here, we still have not heard him cry except when he is getting his diaper changed.  Austin hates the cold air and demands to be covered up quickly.

Steph and Jonathan arrived on Saturday for a soccer game his team was playing on Sunday.  Once they saw Austin, Deanna had a hard for getting him back even for a feeding.  Both Jonathan and Steph held him as much as they could for the time they were there.  Jonathan at 15, is amazing with with little kids and someday will make an incredible father.

Steph on the other hand had every maternal instinct oozing out of her body.  She could not get enough of Austin and Alex.  I think if she could have figured out a way, she would have taken both boys home with her.  Even though Alex had trouble remembering her name, he definitely remembered the rental car she was driving.  A sporty Dodge Charger that he got to ride in.

Alex also had a problem understanding he could have  more than one cousin.  He remembers his Cousin Josh, but could not get his arms around the idea that Jonathan was also his cousin. He really didn't care, he had a great time playing with him.

Sunday, Jonathan's team played a soccer game here in Spokane and  played Keeper the first half and then got some field time in the second half.  It was a beautiful warm day, and his team beat Spokane 6-2.  We so enjoyed being able to watch one more of his games.  He, as well as the other players on the team are so skilled, they are amazing and fun to watch.

Tuesday we had Alex all to ourselves for the day and we discovered the Children's Museum.  After that and lunch, we took Alex shopping for a Spiderman big boy bed.

We have had a wonderful time getting acquainted with our newest grandson Austin, and spending some quality time with Alex.  Of course, seeing Joe and Deanna was good too!  :-)

We are sorry to be leaving, but fall and winter are quickly arriving here in the northwest, and neither of us like cold or wet weather.  The south is calling.  Our first stop before Mesa is Las Vegas to celebrate our second anniversary on October 10th.

Will close this entry with some family pictures.....
