First couple of weeks at Belfair State Park

Boy, what a difference from last year when we hosted in Washington State and only saw the sun 7 days out of 60.  This year, we have had sunshine most every day so far.  We have now been here a little over two weeks, and besides the excitement we had in the first two days, things have settled into a routine and we are enjoying ourselves.

Biggest reason we are having so much fun is being able to see Steph, Mike and the boys.  We were able to watch both boys play in their All Star tournaments and we had such high hopes for each of their teams to win their respective divisions.  But it was not meant to be.  Their teams played well, and the boys are both extremely talented ball players (yes, we are proud grandparents).

After the All-Star season, both boys were picked to play on a select tournament team.  Jayden at 12, is the youngest on the team and Jonathan is one of their starter pitchers.  During their tournament,  Jonathan pitched the third game on Saturday and Jayden got a  double.
Besides watching the boys play ball, we have had Joshua out to spend some time with us.  We took him to see the USS Destroyer Turner Joy in Bremerton Wa.  The ship has the distinction of being the first to fire bombs in the Vietnam war as well as the last. Josh had a great time climbing all over the ship from the mess hall to the bridge.  After the destroyer, we got the kites out and Joshua flew his favorite one, Squidward.

Jayden also came out and spent the night with us, and of couse we built a fire and made smores.  Next day, we visited the Naval Undersea Museum in Keyport, and then he beat us both at a game of minature golf.

We have not had much time to do any exploring, but we did take a drive around the south end of Hood Canal and found a great little Mexican restaurant in Union called 2** Margaritas.  I thought the sign originally meant $2.00 Margaritas, but when we stopped in, discovered it is really 2 margaritas!  Nice, on the canal, with a deck outside overlooking the water.

The rains came in this past weekend, but the temperatures were still a bit warm.  Weatherman is saying the sun will be back early next week.  Hope so, we are bringing Matthew up to stay for a week.  But little boys never feel the rain and there is lots to do here, even in the rain.
