Highway 14, Bryce to Zion National Park

It was my decision to take this road to Zion from Bryce.  I thought it was more direct, we would not get trapped in the construction going on at the east entrance to Zion and the map did not show any major summits we would have to go over.

So to Highway 14 we went......... OH MY!  First of all, there are a number of elevation grades we had to over come to finally hit the summit at 10,000ft!  There were times when 'ole Blue was going about 20 mph in first gear to reach the peak of a particular hill. But she did it!!!!!!  And without overheating.

The views we saw going over this highway were spectacular.  The fall colors were truly out so we managed to stop and get pictures as often as we could, plus I was snapping pics through the windshield as Deane drove.

Highway 14 is also a way to get to Cedar Breaks National Monument.  We would have gone, but were concerned about the next 'hill' we had to go over so opted to head straight to our RV park.

The last picture is of the back side of Zion National Park as we were on the descent off the mountain.  (I say mountain, because it was 10,000 ft, high, but no where on the map I was using did it show it).  We made it to Zion and to our RV park in Hurricane Utah.
