Palm Springs - warmth and sunshine

We left Napa on the 13th, heading to Palm Springs with a reservation for the 15th -18th. What Deane did not check when he made the reservation was the date with the day, so we got to Palm Springs a day early and could not get into our RV park early because it was full.  We did manage to find a spot for the  night in another park but had to do the setup/tear down routine back to back.

Coming down from Napa, we stopped to visit Deane's 87 year old cousin Margaret in Fresno.  What a lady, we should all strive to be as alert, active and happy as she is at that age.

That night we stopped overnight in a truck stop just to sleep before fininshing our trip to Palm Springs.  So it was us and all the big rigs who seem to NEVER turn their engines off.

Palm Springs has been wonderful, the weather was mid 70's, the sun was out and bright every day and everyone is in a good mood.  We spent most of our time there with good friends Mark and Nao.  One of the fun things we did was see the Palm Springs Follies... a must see for anyone coming to this area.  Mark and Nao were great tour guides and we got to see just about everything from one end of this little oasis to the other.

We are now in Quartzsite and actually there is no way I can describe this palce.  You almost have to see it to understand it.  As we were coming down the hill out of Blythe, we started to see RV's parked in the desert, anywhere and everywhere in the desert.  Then looking towards Quartzsite, it was a sea of RV's.  They looked like little homes from afar, but as you get closer you realize there were RV's as far as the eye could see.  We are parked for the week in an area with a group we belong to and there will be about 350 rigs here with us.  It is said that during the month of January and February, there can be up to 1 million people in this little town of  3500.  While we are here we are doing what is called dry camping.  No water, sewer or electric hookups....OH MY!  I will try and get some pictures posted of this place, because it really is hard to describe.

We are here until Sunday (or until the water runs out) then onto Phoenix for a month
